U.S. Open Power Rankings - Mickelson Best Golf Bet!

Phil Mickelson shot a 74 in the final round of last week’s The Players Championship after shooting a 66 in the 3rd round. He failed to crack the Top 10 as the second golf betting choice in the BetUS Sportsbook.
Is that a sign that Lefty is going back to his pre-Masters Tournament ways?
Before winning the 2010 Masters, Lefty had secured only one Top 10 finish this year.
- PGA Tour:U.S. Open Power Rankings
- Where: Pebble Beach Resort, Pebble Beach, CA
- When: June 17th thru June 20th, 2010
Of course, where he secured that Top 10 finish is a definite sign that Lefty has to be taken seriously to win this year’s U.S. Open.
- Phil Mickelson +500 - Yep. Lefty’s only Top 10 before the Masters Tournament occurred as the golf wagering favorite to win the AT&T National Pro-Am this past February. Mick loves Pebble Beach as much as Tiger does, meaning that he has a better shot at the victory since Tiger is suffering from yet another injury.
- Lee Westwood +1500 - If Lee were a horse the best way to describe him would be to say that he likes to “hang”. Westwood failed to close the deal at the Masters. He also failed to close the deal at TPC Sawgrass. Still, at the 15 to 1 betting odds, he must be considered. He did win the Race to Dubai in 2009.
- Ernie Els +1200 - The last time the U.S. Open was held at Pebble Beach, Ernie finished 2nd to Tiger Woods. Granted, he finished 2nd by 15 strokes, +3 to Tiger’s -12, but, hey, a 2nd place finish is a 2nd place finish and Ernie’s done well in 2010.
- Tiger Woods +300 - Neck issues, knee issue, Achilles tendon issues and then there’s that whole thing about his personal life…I wish I could drop El Tigre right out of the Top 10, but the truth is that I can’t. He dominated in 2000 and he’s still Tiger Woods.
- Rory McIlroy +4000 - A surprise in the Top 5? Based on the golf odds, yes, he is, but what can I say? The missed cut at The Players Championship hasn’t made me chilly on his chances at the U.S. Open. Watching a young kid shoot a 62, like he did in the 4th Round of the Quail Hollow, will do that to me.
- Steve Stricker +2000 - Man, he didn’t handle the pressure of being the #2 ranked golfer in the world very well. He’s battled injuries so far in 2010, but I believe most of those injuries are of the mental variety. Time off is exactly what he needed. I believe a rejuvenated Stricker, and a more solid swing, shows up at Pebble Beach this year.
- Padraig Harrington +1500 - The real Paddy, as I suspected, hasn’t showed up yet in 2010. He usually does in June. So, I’m waiting to see if that’s the case.
- Paul Casey +2500 - He’s missed the cut in 2 out of the last 3 tournaments that he’s played. Hey, that’s golf, right? In any case, the man finished in the Top 10 in the first 4 tournaments that he played in 2010. I’ve got faith that he can turn around his form in time for the U.S. Open.
- Anthony Kim +2500 - Tiger, take note. Young Mr. Kim has had a busted thumb for what seems like forever. All he’s done is finish 2nd at the Honda Classic, 1st at the Shell Houston Open, 3rd at the Masters and 7th at the Quail Hollow. He’s also the reason you may never reach the Golden Bear’s major tournament victory record.
- Camilo Villegas +3000 - He’s been disappointing lately with a 57th place finish at the Quail Hollow and missing the cut at TPC Sawgrass, but there’s enough time for him to get his form back. We’ll see how he does in the next few weeks.
The U.S. Open is over a month away, but that doesn’t mean that doesn’t mean that sports gamblers shouldn’t make a golf bet on the 2nd major tournament of the year. Lock in on those terrific golf betting odds by wagering on who you believe will win the 2010 U.S. Open!
