Baccarat – The name of the game; in Italian, it is zero, which signifies the crappiest hand a player can get.
Banker – The player who carries out the role of the dealer; the banker is typically the player who collects and pays the bets.
Banque – A familiar North American Online Baccarat branch
Chemin de fer – a familiar European Online Baccaratt branch; the name actually means ‘railroad’ and relates to the game because of the way the deck circulates around the table.
Draw – This happens when another card must be added to a hand.
Go bank – To confront the banker head on for the full value of the bet.
House edge – This is the casino’s long term benefit with any online casino game.
Labouchere – A familiar betting system where a player raises his bet after each loss.
Martingale – Another familiar but negative progressive betting system.
Mini Baccarat – A broken down version of American offline and online Baccarat.
Modulo – In this style, online Baccarat hands are calculated differently and the ten space of the total is dropped.
Pallet – A long and wide utensil, usually made out of wood, and used to cut and move the Online Baccarat cards.
Player – The hand facing or opposing the banker hand or another player in the game.
Punter – The player positions which are not active.
Punto banco – A popular North American game deriving from Online Baccarat; translated, it means ‘player banker’ and typifies the two opposing positions in the game.
Shoe – A box containing many decks and out of which Online Baccarat hands are dealt.
Strategy – A method of playing which is intended to increase your chances of winning.
System – A thought out process which ultimately reduces your losses while maximizing your odds of winning.
Tie – When both the player and the banker hold equal hands in value, the tie will most often go to the banker. This holds true for most types Online Baccarat games.
